Dave has written what should be required reading for all first-time homebrewers, as well as for seasoned brewers. There is a lot of information in this book that I have not found in any other compendium on homebrewing. I look forward to making my own yeast starter in my next batch. And the yarrow, hop-free ale is so intriguing I’m going to make a 3-gallon batch, as yarrow is one of my favorite herbs.

This book is written in a style that anyone can understand. The simple step by step instructions make the process so easy that if you can make a box of Mac and cheese you can make your own beer. The section on the laws and what can and can’t be done is very helpful.
