Green Flash Palate Wrecker Beer Review

I had been able to try a couple of beers from Green Flash Brewing Company prior to their recent entrance into our market, but since then I have been trying pretty much all of their beers that I have come across, and have been pretty impressed. Tonight I will be checking their American Imperial India Pale Ale with 9.5% Alcohol By Volume (ABV) called Green Flash Palate Wrecker.

Green Flash Palate Wrecker is a crystal clear, deep amber into copper colored beer, sporting a medium-sized, foamy, cream colored head.

The nose has some caramel malts, but is mainly focused on a fresh hop presentation; lots of citrus and grapefruit, with some resinous notes in the background.

Caramel and Munich malts start off the taste, hints of lighter fruity esters in the transition, with the aggressive hop finish taking center stage. Starting floral, with lots of citrus and grapefruit, earthy undertones with an aggressive resinous pine to close things out. The mouth is medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation.

There really shouldn’t be too much confusion about what you’re getting into with Green Flash Palate Wrecker. It is a full on assault with all hop hands on deck. Hop heads will love it and everyone else will think it is too bitter.
