I am going through the beers in the current variety pack from He’Brew, which is part of the Shmaltz Brewing Company. The next one I check out is a new beer for me, which is called He’Brew Hop Manna. Hop Manna is an American IPA with 6.8% Alcohol By Volume (ABV).
He’Brew Hop Manna is a clear copper colored beer, sporting a small off-white head. Lacing dots the sides of the glass.
The nose is fairly evenly balanced between the malts and hops, with pale, caramel and continental varieties on one hand, with citrus, grapefruit and tropical fruit notes on the other.
The taste translates pretty accurately from the scent, again opening up with pale, caramel and German malts, hints of lighter fruits in the transition, with the hop finish starting floral, moving through citrus and tropical fruits, finishing in a piney bitter region. The mouth is right around medium bodied and pretty actively carbonated.
The first two beers (the other being David’s Slingshot) I’ve had from this variety pack have had a lot of Citra hops in play, which is one of the more stylish hop varieties at the moment. Overall, He’Brew Hop Manna has a nice fix of hops for anyone who is in the mood, but it doesn’t really break on through to the other side, as they say. Not knocking it though, nice beer.
